FAQ

Everything you need to know about writing, recording, and collaborating at Songwriting House. Don't see your specific question answered here? Reach out and let's talk about your project.

Can you help me turn a voice memo into a real song?

Yes! That's exactly what Songwriting House was built for. It's not uncommon for clients to arrive with nothing more than a voice memo recorded on their phone. Together we'll develop the lyrics, melody, arrangement, and production until that idea becomes a song you can be proud of.

Getting Started

Do I need to be a professional songwriter?

Not at all. Most clients come to Songwriting House with a rough idea, a voice memo, a lyric sheet, or a partially finished song. Our job is to help you turn that idea into the strongest track possible.

What should I bring to my session?

Bring whatever you have. That could be a voice memo, lyrics, a melody, a chord progression, a home demo, or simply an idea you can describe. You don't need a polished song to get to work.

What genres do you work in?

I primarily work in Country, Americana, Rock, Pop, Christian/CCM, and singer-songwriter styles. If your music falls outside those genres, reach out and we'll discuss if we're the right fit for your sound.

How do I get started?

The first step is a conversation. Send me a message, tell me about your song, and share any demos or ideas you have. We'll talk through your goals and figure out which approach is the best fit for your project.

The Creative Process

What happens during a Songwriting Session?

We collaborate to develop your song's lyrics, melody, structure, arrangement, and overall direction. By the end of the session, you'll leave with a professionally recorded demo that clearly captures the vision for your song.

Can you help if my song feels unfinished or isn't working?

Absolutely. In fact, that's one of the most common reasons artists come to Songwriting House. Sometimes a song just needs a stronger chorus, a better bridge, or an outside perspective. That's exactly what this zero-ego process is designed to do.

Do I need to perform the song myself?

No. Some clients are artists planning to release the music themselves, while others are songwriters who simply want their catalog professionally developed and recorded for pitches. We adapt to your specific goals.

What's the difference between a Songwriting Session and a Fully Produced Song?

A Songwriting Session focuses on writing, refining, and creating a professional demo. A Fully Produced Song takes that foundation all the way to the finish line, delivering a release-ready recording complete with full instrumentation, editing, mixing, and mastering.

Business & Timelines

Will I own my song?

Yes. You retain ownership of your music. Songwriting House is here to help you develop your art, not take it from you. Any standard songwriting splits or publishing arrangements for co-writing are discussed openly and agreed upon before work ever begins.

How long does the process take?

A Songwriting Session is typically completed in a single day. Fully Produced Songs vary depending on the complexity of the arrangement and revisions, but most are crossed off the finish line within a few weeks.
